Evergreen Speedway - May 12th 2007 : If you haven't been to the evergreen speedway you need to go... I myself am not a huge oval track race fan, but this place is fun for anyone. the drivers really have a good time and are entertaining with the burnouts and doughnuts they do on the track. the figure 8 racing is pretty damn exciting!

1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado : This was the car that when I was 20-yo myself and about 3-4 buddies were bored on a Friday afternoon and in our infinite wisdom decided to buy this car for $295 to take stumpjumping. The car lasted through the weekend and finally succumbed to a rock through the transmission pan, but not before taking more abuse than I would have ever imagined! We jumped it at speed, took it up hill climbs I never thought possible, ran it into snags (dead trees), out-ran our buddies in 4wds, etc., etc., it was purely awesome.

It was a spectacular car, had every option you can imagine including power seatc, AC, leather interior, tilt & telescope column, cruise control, electric trunk opener, power windows/locks, power mirrors, am/fm cassette etc., etc.

And although the HP rating on this car isn't anything special for a 500ci motor, this thing had unbelievable torque and was front wheel drive, it could seriously go places you just would not believe. We never once got it stuck and took it places that most 2wd pickups could not make, you just hit everything with speed and let momentum and the torque of the 500ci front wheel drive take over!

Prior to putting a hole in the tranny we managed to rip the gas tank, tear the exhaust off, and destroy the carb (got massive dirt in it). We drove the car through the middle of our home town with gas tank leaking huge quanties of fuel, yanked the ripped gas tank off and threw some truck saddle tanks into the trunk. The exhaust was just a matter of strategic welding to fix. The carb we managed to replace and went from the stock quadra-jet to a holley, only issue was the jetting must have been way lean because the son-of-a-bith ran hotter than hell but we didn't know any better at the time (and didn't care). I tried to convince my buddies that we should put the effort into building skid-plates as I knew we would eventually rip out the oil or tranny pan, but that sounded like too much work to everyone else.

The only shame of it is I wish we would have done a road trip in it before we roached it. In the end the car was still running and with some parts the tranny could be fixed, but we had our fun and donated the car the following weekend to the local car show and they used it for a "brick-it", which is an event where you take bets to see how long the motor will run with the oil and water trained and a brick on the gas pedal, it only lasted just over a minute.
